Interpol Tirana and judicial authorities in Albania have initiated the procedures for the extradition of Dritan Rexhep to Albania after he was arrested in Istanbul today.
The 43-year-old was arrested as part of cooperation between law enforcement authorities from several partner countries and Albania.
He was wanted internationally by Interpol Tirana for the crimes of “intentional murder”, “intentional grievous bodily harm” in collaboration and “illegal possession and manufacture of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition”.
In addition, Rexhepi was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Rome, Italy, for the crime of “criminal association with the aim of drug trafficking” provided for in the Italian Penal Code.
Dritan Rexhepi, also known as the “Albanian King of Cocaine,” was arrested in Turkey today as he entered Istanbul Airport through Istanbul Airport with a Colombian passport registered under the name “Benjamin Omar Perez Garcia.”
The most wanted Albanian gangster was caught in a luxury villa where anti-narcotics forces found money and jewelry during the operation.
