A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a senior police officer in Brisbane’s north this morning.

The incident unfolded within a “matter of seconds” as police responded to a disturbance at a Jones Street address in Rothwell about 9.25am.

The male senior constable was allegedly stabbed in the shoulder by a 30-year-old man armed with knife after he attempted to jump into the police vehicle, police say.
