A woman has drowned at a popular Aussie surf break known for international competitions over the weekend.
At about 3.15pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Snapper Rocks in Coolangatta after three people had come into trouble while in the water.
Queensland Police said a woman and a child were pulled from the water, along with a third person who had tried to help them.
Emergency services attempted to resuscitate the woman, but she sadly died at the scene.
The child and third person were taken to hospital in a stable condition.
