Police in The Hague are looking for eight men in connection with the death of a 23-year-old man who was beaten up in the city centre on Saturday night.
Police were called to the Plein, close to the city’s main railway station, shortly before 1 am on Sunday, following reports that someone had been attacked and injured. The victim was taken to hospital but died in the afternoon.
As yet it is unclear what happened but police say they are looking for eight men aged 18 to 35 in connection with the attack, which appears to have been prompted by an argument in a side street.
Investigators are now combing through surveillance footage of the square, where several popular cafes are located in an effort to establish the chain of events. They have also appealed for witnesses to come forward.
